Dance Parade Recap!

We were little but mighty but DDPP sho’ did REP at today’s Dance Parade!

Marcy and I started things off early by blasting some tunes from our ghetto blasta on 27th street (to the delight of many!  sign me up for a day when playing loud music on the street is not only accepted, but encouraged!) and were later joined by some of our favoritest DDPP pals.

The parade started at 1pm and, after a few minutes of confusion about where we were walking in the line, we were told to jump in right in front of a HUGE float pulled by and even HUGER truck.  (or vice versa? )  Either way it was huge and loud and very techno.  And our tiny boombox was just no match.  Did that stop us from singing along to “How Will I Know” at the top of our lungs?  …to a lovely female police officer directing traffic?  No indeed!  I saw her smile and everyone in the crowd started dancing and singing along before we were ushered to move through the light.

We handed out about 500 postcards and saw a few friends along the way (even a few people who shouted “Hi Dance Dance Party Party!” to us!) and I’m pretty sure I got a nice little sunburn on my face (let’s hope the sweatband tan comes back in style, amirite?).  I call this one VERY successful day!

Thank god for dancing, thank god for the NY Dance parade and thank all yee gods for our wonderful DDPPers!  You girls ROCK!!!

See you all tomorrow at 2pm for a hot mix by DJ Sparkle Planet (Robyn Sklaren)!
